I'm thinking...

of incorporating a Project 365 kinda thing in this blog. We'll see how terrible I am at it =)

This is what P365 is all about:

I'm hoping to start tomorrow!

PS: I'm pretty sure it'll be a joint effort. Huz really wants to contribute since he has that awesome camera from work! =)

I kind of suck

at this whole blogging thing. I think it might be because I'm like the most boring person I know. Same 'ol, same 'ol around these parts.

The most exciting thing was that my cousins Karly and Rob came to stay with us along with Princess Maddie. It was fun having them here, even though we were all so busy trying to get ready for Christmas. Aaaaaaand ::drumroll please:: I get to see them all again soon when they come up for Amanda's wedding! Yay! It turns out that I get to go to Manda's wedding after all (Huz's days off got mixed up and he can't go to Texas with me -booooooo- but now I can go a bit later in the month and can make it to Amanda's wedding-yay!) I'm super excited about that!

I'm super stoked about my Christmas gift from Huz too! I got a sewing machine that I really really wanted, and some awesome stuff to bake with. One of my goals for next year is to learn how to sew, so this is perfect! Huz even said I can turn his "game room" into a craft room! Yippee! I can't wait!

I'll try to post more Christmas-y and New Years-y stuff in the next few days. But if I disappear of the face of the planet for a bit... don't be alarmed. I'll be back =)

Moment of Weakness

Gah! I had a moment of weakness. I almost couldn't control myself. I know it wouldn't have been the best thing for me, or for Adam, or the buns. But I really really really wanted to.... get another bunny.

My friend Cynthia texted me about a cute little black bunny that she found. A poor little orphan. A little guy in need of a home! I couldn't help but imagine how cute he would be laying there with Hef and Holly.... Hef is white and Holly is brown.... with a little black bunny, they would have looked like the black & white and Sepia colors in a photograph! I even had a name picked out for him! He would have been Ninja.

Unfortunately, Huz put his foot down. No little Ninja for me =( He did make some clear and reasonable points, and deep down in side, I KNOW it wouldn't be the best thing for any of us. I am a responsible pet owner.... but I still thought it would have been so cute to have him with us.

one more week

Oh my goodness. I am so having a weak day today. I'm ready to be done with the fast. I'm trying to have a good attitude. I want to finish strong.... but I want to eat something yummy. I want bread. A nice thick slice of whole grain bready goodness. And cheese. Gooey, yummy, warm, delicious cheese. I think that pretty much the second this fast is over, I will be making a gorgeous turkey sandwich with all the fixings. I am seriously more excited about the prospect of a Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwich than actual thanksgiving dinner. Almost. Also, I would sell my worldly possessions for a croissant right now.

My poor family will have to watch me attack Thanksgiving dinner. Sorry in advance guys. My mother did raise me with manners.

A little more than seven days and we're home free! Woohoo!

So excited!

Tomorrow I'm going with some of my gorgeous cousins and my beautiful aunt to see another gorgeous cousin and her brand new, amazingly adorable daughter Maddie. Yay! I've seen pictures of Maddie Joy, and let me tell you- she is a doll! I can't wait to see her and hold her! She is a highly anticipated celebrity around these parts!

I do worry about Huz though. See, I tease him a lot and tell him he's "tame" now. He's not a wild young thing anymore. He has a wife who takes care of him and feeds him and everything. I think he lost many of his survival instincts. I hope he can fend for himself while I'm gone. I would already be worried for him, but with the Daniel Fast, I'm even more concerned. I don't want to come home and find that he's been surviving on rabbit pellets!

I can see this going one of two ways. 1) we discover that he is indeed tame and can not survive the weekend himself. or 2) we find out that he really can do some stuff on his own, therefore allowing me to give him more responsiblities! The second option would be wonderful. =)

I tried to make preparations for him. I made the soy chorizo and potato stuff for tacos, and made a HUGE batch of vegetable soup (it's so freakin good, if I do say so myself), along with some salad fixings. Hopefully that along with the vegan restaurant we discovered nearby, he won't starve before I get home.

Well, hopefully I'll be back soon with some fabulous pictures of Princess Maddie! Yippee!

Daniel's Fast

Huz and I have been doing the Daniel's Fast. It's a 21 day fast based on Daniel 10:2-3 in the Bible. We eat only fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds, whole wheat, and vegetable oils and drink only water. We can also use spices, herbs, and seasonings. Basically, it's a vegan diet with even more restrictions. We aren't having any sugar, syrup, honey, yeast or chemicals in our food. And, of course we aren't eating any dairy or meat.

We've chosen to do this for a few different reasons. The first is to get closer to God. Yes, this Fast is difficult and it's a sacrifice. Taking the time to read every ingredient on all the labels while shopping, coming up with menu ideas, spending money on food that isn't just convenient microwaveable crap, cooking almost everything from scratch every day (I used to cook maybe 2 or 3 days out of the week- and the rest of the time we either ate at a restaurant, order in, or heated up frozen pot pies or had cereal or something), and of course giving up some of our favorite foods. For me, that was definitely ice cream! But, for me the point of sacrificing is to show God and myself that He is the most important thing to me. I don't need all of this stuff. I can live without it. I want my focus to be back on Him.

It's also important to me to remember that no matter how big my sacrifice is, it's nothing compared to what He gave for me. It still blows my mind that Jesus gave His life for me... because He didn't want me to be away from Him. How could anyone love me that much?!

The second reason Huz and I are doing this is to get closer to each other. We have been spending less time on the computer and watching TV (which is HUGE for me!) and spending more time praying, reading the bible, and just talking to each other. We're still kind of newly married (less than 2 years is still newlywed right? I'll be saying we're newlyweds when we're a hundred! haha) and even though we've been together for like 9 years, I still love to learn new things about him and talk and laugh. He is so amazing! I love him so much and I feel so blessed to be his wife. I like that while it's still early on in our marriage, we're setting aside time to spend together without distractions (I'm sure those will be added along the years).

The third reason is the health benefits. We've developed some awful eating habits over the years. When we first met, we were young and thin and active (sigh). And while I love Huz more today then ever before (even when he was a 17 year old slice of Army stud muffin-ness) and he loves me no matter what- I want to look and feel and be healthier. I want to share a loooooong and happy life with him. Also, I want to be skinny and hot again. So we're going to the gym, eating a lot better, and trying to be more active and healthy in general. We can totally do this!

We've been doing well so far. There has been some temptation (ironically, it happened in church of all places! The pastor was handing out candy during service today... Huz and I looked at each other and held hands for strength. haha!) I'll try to post some of our meal ideas and stuff and a little about our progress as well. Woohoo!

Introducing the Crazy Bunny Lady

::shyly peeks out::

Hi guys! Yup, I totally started a blog. I don't really have anything interesting to say, and when I do have something to say, it never comes out eloquent and poignant. So bear with me 'k.

I'm kind of still a newlywed... right? I married my high school sweetheart on July 4, 2008. It was pretty freakin awesome. My parents and brother and sister live way too far away (in smelly old Texas). I miss them lots. I have a fabulous family here though... including my husband's family- they're the best! I also have some of the most amazing friends ever! They're fantastic.

I work with kids, but don't want my own right now. Huz and I have the most adorable and funny godkids ever though! They make me smile. (BTDub.... first kid who calls me "Nina" gets a cookie!)

That brings us to the bunnies. My bunnies... Oh how I love my bunnies. Huz and I got Hef in March of 2008 and Holly soon after. They are the most adorable, funny, cute bunnies ever. Hef is a mischevious trouble maker who loves to explore and always looks so guilty when he gets caught doing something bad. Holly is a little lady who is perfectly content to sit in the shade and watch. She reminds me of the ballerina hippo on the Disney movie "Fantasia" because she is so huge and fat and ladylike. I love them!

So, that's it for now. I'll totally be back soon... I hear this gets kind of addicting.
